The Pavel Banya balneological resort stands at 390 m altitude and lies in the magnificent Rose Valley. Its population is about 3100 people and is 21 km to the west of Kazanlak, 40 km to the east of Karlovo, 85 km northeast of Plovdiv and 185 km east of Sofia. The remains of a Roman bath and an old Christian church testify that the water of the thermal springs has been used since Roman times.
