Known for its curative mineral waters, the town of Banya is also characterized by its beneficial climate and good conditions for treatment, prophylaxis, hiking, recreation and entertainment. It is 12 km south of Karlovo, 47 km north of Plovdiv and 15 km northeast of the town of Hissarya. There are 10 thermal mineral springs in the spa, whose water is suitable for the treatment of rheumatism, functional diseases of the nervous system, gynecological problems, hypertension, hypotension, ulcers, etc. Physiotherapy sessions are conducted under the observation of physicians. There is a beach with three pools of mineral water, a casino and a restaurant (open from the side of the beach during the summer), a year round swimming pool. Next to the sports grounds there is an indoor training hall, baths, dressing rooms and beds. The specialized rehabilitation hospital (Banya National Complex) operates as a centre of rehabilitation and treatment of all diseases of the bones, joints and the peripheral nervous system.
